What do you mean you can't naiveingly have hype built for any possibility despite being let down for almost 2 decades? You call yourself a fan? I'm kidding of course. But yeah, the more I think about it the more I think it's probably just going to be RE8 as a launch title for next gen (Though that would be huge)Can't do this anymore man, I'm not strong enough for another hypetrain.
I hope it's outbreak related but honestly I take no chances anymore.
Resist! RESIST!!! Am I resisting right or am I doing this backwards?Heads up, if you're interested in this program, it's required you connect some sort of social media account and basically asks for complete control of it.
Proof:
So basically, if you want to be a corporate shill with zero of the pay, you get to playtest games for them at the cost of your agency on your twitter/facebook/instagram. I know this may sound dramatic, but there really is no reason for Capcom to be policing your social media if they aren't even going to pay you to playtest games early.
You make a fair point but honestly Resistance is a asymmetrical pvp game where you earn magical dollars through killing enemies that the 5th player spawns right in front of you. Using said dollars at a magic box that has limitless amounts of weapons and ammo all with severely limited exploration, 5 min timer and where you can also respawn. Outbreak is a Co-operative survival horror PVE experience where players are encouraged to make the decision to split up to quickly tackle more objectives or to safely stick together on large scale maps.Does everybody really think Capcom is going to release something Outbreak related with Resident Evil Resistance coming out? I'm pretty doubtful that they are going to being working on multiple multiplayer resident evil games at the same time, especially since they are probably going to use the same bland gameplay style they have been using for the remakes. I'm assuming all the hype over them updating the Outbreak websites or whatever it was is probably related to Resistance being developed, since it seems very similar in concept. Resistance probably started as a soft outbreak remake.
I'm not trying to dash anybody's hopes, I was just trying to think realistically how a large soulless corporation would think about a business strategy. It doesn't really matter if its asymmetrical multiplayer, a company is still going to look at it as their multiplayer title, which they are probably going to want to push a lifespan, community, and market for. It would hurt any base they have in Resistance if they dropped another similar multiplayer game in such a short timespan. Multiplayer titles nowadays are developed to suck micro transactions out of players and have long lifespans because of that, I'm not saying thats what Capcom is going to do, but if they follow the model this is going to be a long term cash grab for them. You make a fair point but honestly Resistance is a asymmetrical pvp game where you earn magical dollars through killing enemies that the 5th player spawns right in front of you. I don't think it's fair to simply assume that there's no room for Outbreak in late 2020/2021 just because it and a side mode in RE3 both have multiplayer.
But Capcom may look at it the same way that you are and think that it would be dumb to release both in the same timespan because both are multiplayer.
Either way it's probably RE8 which also might be VR so Capcom may want to get testers/hype peeps for that.
One solution is to disassemble the games and figure out how to create mods/hacks or even completely new scenarios like has been done for other games. A big ask for sure i know, but there are some people who have explored quite a bit into the data files side of things.I think both products would be competing for consumers too. Even though they're different. Honestly, it's going to be nearly 20 years soon & still no comparable game. There's just no market for Outbreak.
