DNAS forever - important

Postby the_fog » Tue Dec 27, 2016 3:31 pm

Late christmas gift: https://github.com/FogNo23/DNASrep

I hope that someone will continue to run a DNAS replacement server in the future. My own server will stop working in a few weeks!
For the Outbreak servers this means, we will setup our own DNAS server, you won't even notice the change.

It means despite sony shutting down DNAS, now other ps2 titles have a way to bypass the DNAS check legitimately, for outbreak we wont notice any difference because we are already using the_fogs implementation of DNAS , but this is good news for other ps2 online communities that have suffered since the real DNAS servers went down, I seen a handful of people show up on the shoutbox a few months ago stating that ps2 titles like, call of duty, mortal kombat are no longer playable, but now that the_fog has open sourced this, developers for these communities can make use of his work here, maybe i am missing something, correct me if i am wrong! :))

Does it mean that I can run my original game without a patch? :D

Very nice Christmas gift.
Thank you Fog.

This means a lot and will hopefully help us see more ps2 games back online in the future.
I for one am very grateful.

Congrats on the completion of the DNAS project Mr. Fog. Going open source should also provide a boost in revival server activity for many PS2 titles.
