new, not sure how to starting playing

hey all, i am new and want to jump right into playing. the only information i could find about playing it on PC is this guide here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=388&sid=1c59c66086 ... 4015bda247

but even then im not sure what im supposed to do. any tips?
